recipes, research,
and everything
in between

I’m Raquel—a physician-scientist in training, enthusiastic home cook, and mountain lover. I’m passionate about the intersection of food, medicine, and well-being, particularly the role of nutrition and lifestyle in cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship.

Here, I share recipes I love, explore the science of nourishment, and indulge my curiosity about integrative medicine and living well. I believe good food should be as enjoyable as it is nourishing, and that wellness extends far beyond what happens in a clinic.

And let’s be real—after enough hours staring at a computer screen, sometimes I just want to put down the keyboard, pick up a spatula, and make something delicious.

BEYOND THE WHITE COAT

Hi, I’m Raquel.

scientist by training. cook by curiosity. outdoors whenever possible.

I’m Raquel M. Zimmerman, MD, PhD, a physician-scientist trainee at the University of Utah, with a background in applied mathematics and a PhD in biomedical informatics.

My training has taught me to value evidence and ask better questions. Life outside medicine keeps me curious about nourishment in its wider sense: a good meal, a long day in the mountains, and time spent with other people.
